Arizona Bike Week Party in the Desert
© 2010 By Kimmy Cruz   - April 9 to 18 at the Hideaway Grill
Arizona Bike Week at The Hideaway Grill… somewhere in Cave Creek, Arizona was the most awesome, laid back place to work from April 9 to 18th and it was THE PARTY headquarters all day, every day. The weather was perfect for riding in the desert and you never knew what celebrity bike builder or other famous person was going to ride in from Phoenix.
Paul Yaffe, Bagger Nation had his own day at the Hideaway, and my hot red outfit of the day matched his hot red bagger. How cool was that?
There was also a Jim Nasi Day and also a Bourgett’s Bike Works Day.
The Hideaway kicked off the pre-rally with Phoenix Bike Night. Chester’s Harley Davidson threw their fourth annual Backstage Biker Bash featuring Jackyl on Friday and The Marshall Tucker Band Saturday. Hacienda Harley Davidson had their annual Kick Start Party, Friday. And Buddy Stubbs Harley Davidson’s annual Bike Week Bash featuring Harry Luge Jr. was on Saturday.
They were serving this outrageous Cruz Tequila at the Hideaway! I was excited and loving it because the label had my name on it with a cross and blue flames. I definitely brought some home because we don’t have Cruz Tequila in Arkansas, YET.
The Buddy Stubbs’ Riding For Kids Charity Ride was on Wednesday, April 14th, the opening day of Cyclefest at Westworld in Scottsdale.
Everybody who has supported the Hideaway over the years road into Westworld  with owner, Mark Bradshaw and the AZ Custom Builders to pick up his “Hero Of The Year” award on Wednesday night. Mark had been riding his Harley to Cave Creek for years, and fell in love with the little town. He moved there and opened the Hideaway in 1998.
Jay Allen of the Broken Spoke rode in with Kristi to celebrate his birthday, April 16th like he does every year with Mark at the Hideaway, and they took everybody out on a gypsy tour all over the Arizona desert with lots of stops along the way and back.
The biggest crowds at the Hideaway were during the day, and the bands started playing before noon because the Hideaway was packed every day by 11 a.m. The weather was always in the 80s, and without any humidity it was perfect riding weather. Later in the day, when the temperatures started dropping to the 60s like they do out in the desert, the bikers would roll out and take in a concert at Westworld in Scottsdale or else head on home.
The 14th Annual Cyclefest at Westworld offered concerts by country artist Dierks Bentley. For rockers, Vince Neil was there pounding out all those classic Motley Crue tunes, as well as Ratt and George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Visit: azbikeweek.com .   You can see all of the photographs I took at Arizona Bike Week in my galleries.

Cold Weather Party at Daytona Bike Week 2010
© 2010 By Kimmy Cruz – February 26 to March 7, 2010

The sun was out on the last Saturday of Daytona Bike Week 2010, and it was finally warm enough for a photo-shoot on the beach. Then it was time to pack away a lot of cold weather gear and cold weather party memories and hit the road.
More than 400,000 motorcyclists kick off the USA rally season every year in late February in Daytona Beach, Florida. In a word, this year’s Daytona rally was “cold.” Riders wore full leathers, and many rode with full face helmets. Fur hats were very popular among the ladies, especially the ones with long fur tails.
Main Street was lined with every kind of motorcycle, from bobber to BMW, but the riders spent more time inside Dirty Harry’s, Froggy’s, The Dog House and Boot Hill Saloon because riding on “The World’s Most Famous Beach” was a little chilly. The 69th Annual Daytona Bike Week was by far, one of the coldest ever. But it was still a pleasant break for motorcyclists who left blizzard conditions in the northern states of the USA to enjoy a little riding and a lot of partying in Daytona Beach.
This year, Harley-Davidson staged a giant street party downtown near Beach Street Harley-Davidson, where you could see Kris Krome’s AMD World Championship motorcycle RE-FLEX-TION on display, along with 7-time NHRA World Champion Tony Schumacher`s T/F 1.
The International Motorcycle Show was at the Daytona Convention Center on North Atlantic Avenue (A1A) across from the Daytona Hilton. And a Sportbike Festival was staged at the nearby Daytona Bandshell.
Riders visited many bike shows, including The Limpnickie Lot Show in South Daytona and the Artistic Bike Show, Tattoo Willie’s Old School Show and World Famous Rat’s Hole Shows north of Daytona Beach. The ride up A1A along the beach is very scenic from Main Street to Ormond Beach, (10 miles) or even nicer when you go further north to Saint Augustine, one of the oldest towns in the USA.
Rally fans spread out during the day to visit bike shows and swap meets, and usually make a trip north on US Highway 1 to Destination Daytona, the world’s largest Harley-Davidson dealership, where you will find S&S, Arlen Ness, Sucker Punch Sally and other top builders. The Iron Horse Saloon is nearby and a favorite spot to land to watch burnouts, have a cold beer and listen to some music. There are a number of races at Daytona International Speedway, where you will also find Orange County Choppers, Eddie Trotta, Boss Hoss and other builders.
But after 6 p.m., Main Street is still the hot spot with industry parties upstairs at The Dog House and non-stop action inside and outside the dozens of bars. Bands like Rebel Son are playing and girls are doing pole dances, and the top builders are out in force to party with rally fans every night for the entire 10 days.
